1958 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1958-D WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1958-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). The nose has a thin E/W die crack. Strong, mostly N/S scratches cover the fields, the neck and the hair, and strong X-shaped scratches lie behind the head. A strong scratch joins the bottom left corner of GOD's D with TRUST's first T, another extends S off the N in IN, and a gouge sits under LIBERTY's E. The reverse has a strong, slightly curved scratch on the flame and the upper torch. A NW/SE scratch crosses UN in UNITED and E/W scratches cross TED. A scratch extends SW from AMERICA's I to an oak leaf, and old E/W scratches cross CA in AMERICA. Where leaves overlap the torch, irregular gouges sit on the torch between their tops, and a short scratch extends NE from the rim under DIME's D. Gouges sit under UNITED's E and AMERICA's C, and many N/S scratches run through and above the olive branch. Tanner Scott submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references and notes this is a replacement listing, since the original files were missing from the Bordner files.
