1958 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1958-D WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1958-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). The obverse has a Straight G in GOD. A die chip sits on the lower nose, and from the nose a NW/SE scratch extends into the field ahead of the lips. A gouge lies right of LIBERTY's Y, and a long gouge sits over the left side of TRUST's U. The reverse shows two strong N/S scratches left of the mint mark and N/S scratches between STATES and the upper olive leaves. A southward scratch links the right side of UNUM's N with the right side of DIME's M. Wexler notes that the Bordner files do not record who submitted this die, and lists no cross-references. The comments explain that the Bordner files first gave this die two stages, but the photos showed they were two different dies, so the earlier stage was removed; if it is ever resubmitted, it will get its own listing.
