1958-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-005

Description

A D/D South displacement documented by VarietyVista, this 1958-D Roosevelt Silver Dime is notable for the obverse die also being listed as ODV-005 (Flared G), creating a dual-variety coin with both a repunched mintmark and a distinctive obverse die variant. Die markers UVC-748 / DMR-007 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS with a light die clash and numerous die scratches on the reverse, the obverse listed as ODV-005 (Flared G), light die clash and numerous die scratches on the obverse, and a die crack from the head to the rim at K-2; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The die clashes on both faces indicate the dies contacted each other without a planchet present. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck at Denver in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm during the final years before the 1965 transition to clad composition.
