1953 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010

Description

1953-S WRPM-010 is a repunched mint mark on the 1953-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies east of the primary S (S/S East). On the obverse, a light die gouge sits at the upper left of the Y in LIBERTY, and two gouges (dots) sit in the gap from the star to the date's 1. On the reverse, a long, wavy scratch lies right of the mint mark, and a north-south scratch sits at its upper center. Tooling gouges appear in several places: at the left side of the base, above the U in UNITED; between the lower parts of the F and I in FIVE; and at the right end of Monticello's base, over AMERICA's last A, as well as at the top of that A. Brian Ribar submitted the variety, and Wexler's comments note that he took the photo of the RPM. Wexler lists no cross-references.
