1953 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-009

Description

1953-S WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1953-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies south of the primary S (S/S South). On the obverse, a small die gouge sits under the E in LIBERTY, toward its right side. On the reverse, a gouge lies above Monticello's right roof; on Monticello's upper right side, north of the right arch, are more gouges; and WSW/ENE scratches run from the second S of STATES over to the O in OF. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
