1951 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010

Description

1951-S WRPM-010 is a repunched mint mark on the 1951-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies east of the primary S (S/S East). On the obverse, short die scratches head north off the forehead, and a NNE/SSW scratch runs along the inside of the forehead. On the reverse, north-south scratches lie inside the right arch along its left side; NNW/SSE scratches lie above the right arch's left side; irregular scratches sit above and inside the small right window; north-south scratches lie inside and above the left arch; and scratches link the E in FIVE with MONTICELLO's N at its bottom, running NW. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #1. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
