1950-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-008

Description

Displaying a D over D repunched mintmark with the secondary impression shifted to the north, this 1950 Denver Mint Roosevelt Dime variety is cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #2 and Wexler Variety ID 1950-D 10¢ WRPM-008. Repunched mintmarks occurred when the mintmark punch was applied more than once to the working die at slightly different positions, leaving traces of both impressions on every coin struck. The obverse carries very light and blended together north-south die scratches at the lips, bridge of the nose, and the back of the neck. On the reverse, die markers include a north-northwest die scratch from the top oak leaf to the F of OF, a short north-south die scratch at the lower right side of the flame, and light crisscrossing die scratches in the field adjacent to the top of the torch holder on both sides. Attributed by the Wexler Team, this variety appears on John R. Sinnock's silver Roosevelt Dime during the early years of the series. The CONECA cross-reference as RPM #2 confirms independent recognition by a second attribution authority, strengthening confidence in the variety's identification.
