1950-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-006

Description

Sixth in the Wexler Team's catalog of 1950-D Roosevelt Dime repunched mintmarks, WRPM-006 presents a D/D Tilted or Rotated displacement — the second punch applied at a different angle than the first, creating overlapping serifs that diverge rotationally rather than along a simple directional axis. Submitted by David Mulberry, the variety also carries multiple die cracks running through Liberty's hair on the obverse and across the reverse, indicating the die saw extended service before retirement. These cracks provide additional staging markers beyond the primary RPM attribution. The 1950-D Roosevelt Dime was struck in 90% silver at Denver, part of the early production years following the design's 1946 introduction to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Tilted or rotated RPMs represent a less common displacement category than standard directional classes, since they require the die setter to rotate the punch between applications rather than simply shifting its position.
