1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-042

Description

1949-S WRPM-042 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S East: the secondary S lies east of the primary. Obverse markers: N/S scratches across most of the obverse; clashed dies, which show well around the throat; a scratch running east through and above GOD; and a scratch that starts just below the mint mark, crosses it and the 4 of the date, and ends in the field above the date. Reverse markers: a strong scratch inside the C of CENT, toward its left side; scratches that cross in an X within the lower C; two strong scratches inside the O of OF that run south and stop just short of the top of the left wheat stem; and several N/S scratches through and between STATES' first S and the E of AMERICA.
