1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-012

Description

1949-S WRPM-012 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the extra S lies west of the primary. Obverse Stage A: clash marks under the chin; north-south scratches around the 19 of the date; a gouge joining the top of WE's E to the rim; and a gouge under the bust on its right side. Obverse Stage B adds a chip below and right of GOD's D. Reverse Stage A: a scratch running north from the top of ONE's O to the bottom of PLURIBUS's first U; a scratch between CENT's T and STATES' second T; a scratch running south along the left side of STATES' E; and a short scratch running north from the top of STATES' last T. By Reverse Stage B every Stage A marker is faint. John Bordner submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #3.
