1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-013

Description

1949-S WRPM-013 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S East: the extra S lies east of the primary. Obverse Stage A: chips on both sides of the date's 1; two scratches running north from the 1's upper left to just below the chin; a scratch inside the 9; scratches running north from the tops of LIBERTY's RTY; and a scratch from the nose's edge that ends ahead of the forehead. Obverse Stage B adds two short scratches on the chin's bottom edge and a diagonal scratch from left of the 1, ending in the field to the chin's right. Obverse Stage C adds a crack on the head. Reverse Stage A: strong scratches running south from the bottom of PLURIBUS's LU, some ending at the edge of ONE's O and others at the top and left side of CENT's C; and a short scratch running south from the bottom of CENT's C. Reverse Stage B adds a chip low inside ONE's N on its left, and Reverse Stage C chips along the left wheat stalk's left edge. Eric Axtell submitted Stage A, Lloyd Hanson Stage B, and David Bloomberg Stage C. CONECA lists it as RPM #8 and Coppercoins as 1949S-1MM-008.
