Description

1949-S WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A 1949 date with a Blunt 4 is hubbed over a 1948 date with a Pointed 4, and the 194 shows doubling. Obverse markers: scratches forming an inverted V right of GOD's O; short vertical scratches left of WE's W; and SSE scratches from between the date's 1 and 9. Reverse markers: a NNW scratch from the diagonal bar of ONE's N, at its top; parallel north-south scratches inside CENT's C; and a scratch running south from the top right of CENT's T. G. J. Lawson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 3-O-III and Coppercoins as 1949S-1DO-001.
