1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-041

Description

1949-S WRPM-041 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the secondary S lies west of the primary. Obverse markers: N/S scratches above the RTY of LIBERTY; a scratch heading south from the base of the R's right leg; a scratch running south from the base of the T and ending below it; and heavy scratches with a gouge on the neck. Reverse markers: a chip inside the O of ONE, low; two scratches heading north from the N and E of ONE at their top right; short scratches on top of the T in CENT, with N/S scratches to its left and right; a scratch joining the base of that T to the last T of STATES; and N/S scratches inside and between the ER of AMERICA.
