1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-030

Description

1949-S WRPM-030 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S Tilted (Rotated): the secondary S is turned relative to the primary. On the obverse, a crack runs through the hair above the ear. Reverse markers: a strong field scratch to the right of the E in ONE; a N/S scratch above and through the E of STATES; a scratch heading south inside the C of CENT, with more heading south from the base of that C; a scratch from the lower N of CENT heading south to the lower part of the first S in STATES; and a scratch heading south from the base of the C in AMERICA, ending close to the top of the right wheat stem. Gary Shaffstall submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
