1949 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-027

Description

1949-S WRPM-027 is a repunched mint mark on the 1949-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the secondary S lies west of the primary. Obverse Stage A has a strong scratch to the right of the 1 in the date and a scratch heading north from the 1's left side. Stage B adds a gouge on the center arm of the W in WE. Reverse Stage A has a field chip to the right of the E of ONE, by its bottom leg, and a stronger field chip centered between the rim and the right wheat stalk. Stage B adds a scratch heading north from the top of the N in ONE, a scratch left of the C of CENT, and scratches heading south from the AME of AMERICA. Brian Ribar submitted the variety and took the photo of the RPM. Wexler lists no cross-references.
