1947-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista as RPM-001 (UVC-162, DMR-005) with mint mark type MMS-003 (Sans Serif), this 1947-S Roosevelt dime presents an S/S North repunching in which the secondary S impression is shifted northward relative to the final placement. Three die stages are documented. Stage A is provisionally early die state, unconfirmed. Stage B is provisionally mid-die state, unconfirmed. Stage C shows both reverse and obverse in late die state. The 1947-S Roosevelt dime was struck in 90% silver at the San Francisco Mint just one year after the series debuted in 1946, replacing the Mercury dime.
