1947 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1947-S WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1947-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on the designer's initials and the letters of LIBERTY, with a slight spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and the date. On the obverse, strong circular scratches radiate across the head. Inside the upper part of LIBERTY's Y, at the bottom of that space, is a strong gouge. On the reverse, a short gouge protrudes from the upper center right of UNITED's E. Between UNITED's D and the first S of STATES, three parallel scratches run SW to NE. At the rim right of STATES's second S is a gouge, and two parallel scratches run ENE from the bottom right of AMERICA's second A to the dot. David Mulberry submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
