1947-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

The 1947-D Roosevelt Dime WRPM-002, attributed by the Wexler Team (designation 1947-D 10¢ WRPM-002), presents a D/D Tilted repunched mintmark variety in which the secondary D impression is displaced in a rotated orientation. The 90% silver Roosevelt Dime was in only its second year of production at the Denver Mint. Attribution relies on markers across two stages and both sides. The obverse carries a small die chip dot on the center of the nose — a highly specific anchor — while the reverse has a die crack from the torch holder above the bands to the upper right olive leaves, submitted by Brian Ribar. Additional obverse markers include an NE scratch from the upper right of the 9, NE/SW scratches inside the 4, and SE scratches from the G of GOD. Reverse markers include E/W scratches at the C and second A of AMERICA, and NE/SW scratches at ON in ONE. The dot on the nose stands out as the most immediate attribution anchor, allowing rapid preliminary identification before turning to the mintmark area for confirmation of the repunching.
