Description

Carrying attribution codes UVC-152 and DMR-007, this 1947-D Roosevelt Dime repunched mintmark is the first catalogued RPM for this date in the VarietyVista reference system. The 1947-D Roosevelt Dime belongs to the inaugural years of the series, launched in 1946 following Franklin Roosevelt's death in April 1945. These early silver dimes carry hand-applied mintmarks — the same process responsible for all mid-century RPM varieties. Four die stages are documented. Stage A: early die state, unconfirmed. Stage B: middle die state, unconfirmed. Stage C: late die state, unconfirmed. Stage D: both reverse and obverse in very late die state — the only fully confirmed stage. The four-stage documentation, unusual for VarietyVista RPMs, indicates sustained die use. The very late die state classification on both sides at Stage D helps collectors identify these specimens by their softly struck detail and shallow relief. RPM-001 status implies this was among the first confirmed repunched mintmarks documented for 1947-D.
