Description

1947-D WRPM-030 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D East: the extra D lies east of the primary. Obverse Stage A: a gouge above and right of TRUST's last T; east-running scratches at the throat; and one scratch running SE from the throat into the field left of the date's 1. Obverse Stage B adds a gouge between TRUST's R and U. Reverse Stage A: a chip at the right outer edge of ONE's O; NE scratches inside the lower O; short east-west scratches on the left leg of ONE's N; a scratch above CENT's E; SW/NE scratches around the ST of STATES; and a scratch running east from STATES' A through its TES, ending at the lower left edge of the right wheat stalk. On Reverse Stage B the scratches around the ST are weak, and a large chip appears left of CENT's C. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
