1947 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-005

Description

1947-D WRPM-005 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D/D North & Tilted (Rotated), a triple-punched D. Obverse markers: a north-south scratch on the left side of the date's 1, and a scratch from the bow tie that ends at the 9's top left that crosses a north-south scratch, forming an X above and right of the 1. Reverse markers: a scratch inside the left side of CENT's N running SW and ending in the field outside the N's left leg; a field chip beneath the right leg of AMERICA's M; a chip right of the upper E in AMERICA; a scratch running SW from the bottom left serif of that E; and an east-west scratch between the legs of AMERICA's M. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #6 and Coppercoins as 1947D-1MM-006. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
