WRPM-027, attributed by the Wexler Team under Wexler Variety ID 1947-D 1¢ WRPM-027, documents a working die on which the D mint mark was punched at least twice, leaving a secondary impression visible under magnification alongside the final accepted placement. Twenty-seven cataloged repunched mint marks for the 1947-D date speaks to the scale of die preparation at a facility striving to meet surging civilian demand — returning veterans flooding the consumer economy created an appetite for circulating coinage that kept the presses running at capacity.
