1947 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-022

Description

1947-D WRPM-022 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. Obverse markers: a scratch under GOD's G; a chip below the lower lip; and a NE scratch from the bust that crosses the mint mark and ends at the lower part of the date's 7. Reverse markers: a scratch running south from the lower left of ONE's N, across CENT's E and UNITED's E, to AMERICA's first A; a scratch starting between the legs of ONE's N and running south between CENT's E and N, on through UNITED's D, to the top of AMERICA's M; and two east-west scratches below AMERICA's last A, one of them ending below its first A. Paul Funaiole submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
