1947 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-016

Description

1947-D WRPM-016 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D/D South & North: a triple-punched D with extra images to the south and north. Obverse Stage A: an eastward scratch from the bow tie's bottom, ending above the date's 9, and east-west scratches between the letters of LIBERTY's RTY. On Obverse Stage B the mint mark is weak and abraded, and a gouge sits at the rim right of TRUST's last T. Reverse Stage A: a short scratch from the bottom of CENT's T to the top of STATES' second T. Reverse Stage B adds a chip along the right side of the kernels of the left wheat stalk, left of the lower U in UNITED. Paul Funaiole submitted Stage A and David Mulberry Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
