1947 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-013

Description

1947-D WRPM-013 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D South: the extra D lies south of the primary. Obverse Stage A: a chip under the lower lip; a chip below the Adam's apple; and a light scratch inside the lower ear. Obverse Stage B adds a gouge under WE's E and a crack in the hair over the ear. On Obverse Stage C that hair crack is stronger, and on Obverse Stage D the crack on the head is longer. Reverse Stage A: scratches between the left wheat stalk's kernels, and a scratch from the bottom of OF's O running SE to the left wheat stem's edge. Reverse Stage B: a gouge at PLURIBUS's P; a crack from the bottom of OF's O to the top of the left wheat stem; and a short scratch high inside AMERICA's second A. Reverse Stage C adds small chips below and right of UNITED's U and inside OF's O. On Reverse Stage D the M of UNUM is thin from heavy polishing.
