1947-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-012

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1947-D 1-cent WRPM-012, this Lincoln Wheat Cent shows a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark where the secondary D is both displaced and angularly rotated. Obverse die markers include a N/S die gouge between the lower area of WE and NE/SW die scratches on the jaw line SE from the earlobe. The reverse shows a medium die gouge (dot) centered below the TE of STATES. No external cross-references are currently known. Struck at the Denver Mint in 1947, this cent is 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams at 19.05 mm diameter. The postwar 1947 Denver production returned to normal copper alloy after the zinc-coated steel emergency composition of 1943.
