1947 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-009

Description

1947-D WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated): the extra D is rotated relative to the primary. Obverse Stage A: a gouge (dot) in the field right of the mint mark; a heavy, slightly curving west-by-south scratch from the upper left of WE's W, with a gouge (dot) joined to it slightly to the left; and short scratches from the rim between GOD's D and WE's W. Obverse Stage B adds a crack in the hair above the ear, running east from the back edge of the head and ending on the forehead. Reverse Stage A: a light NW/SE scratch joining the lower parts of ONE's O and N, and a light WNW/ESE scratch centered between ONE's N and CENT's EN. Reverse Stage B adds a dot-sized field gouge at the edge of CENT's T, centered on its left side. Scott Rusch submitted Stage A and Gary Shaffstall Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
