1947-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-005

Description

Exhibiting a D/D/D Rotated CW, CCW triple-punched mintmark, this 1947-D Lincoln Wheat Cent was documented by VarietyVista with both clockwise and counterclockwise rotational components. Die markers UVC-287 / DMR-007 track four stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with obverse and reverse at MDS; Stage C with obverse and reverse at LDS; Stage D with obverse and reverse at VLDS. The opposing CW and CCW rotations document at least three separate punch contacts with different angular orientations, creating a complex overlap pattern around the D letter. Struck at the Denver Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1947-D was produced during the post-war era of robust Denver Mint output. The four-stage lifecycle from EDS through VLDS indicates extended service well beyond typical die replacement intervals.
