Description
Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-503 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, this 1943-S Washington Silver Quarter shows an S/S Southeast displacement documented by VarietyVista. Die markers UVC-0375 / DMR-025 track three stages: Stage A with reverse and obverse at EDS; Stage B with both at MDS; Stage C at EDS (unconfirmed) -- an unusual notation possibly indicating a documentation anomaly. The FS-503 listing confirms this as a recognized variety worthy of active searching. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm, the 1943-S was struck at San Francisco during WWII. John Flanagan's design features Washington's portrait on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse. The Cherrypickers' recognition makes this among the more actively pursued RPM varieties in wartime Washington Quarters.
