1943 (S) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

1943-S WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-S Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A clockwise (CW) spread pivoting from about 1:00 appears on LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, a scratch heads SW off the L in LIBERTY from its lower right, three scratches reach out from the rim in the gap between the B and E, many NW/SE scratches cross the Y, and a crack crosses the bust's base. On the reverse, west of the eagle's lower neck there is a short gouge. Jim Lafferty submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-O-V. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
