Description
This 1938 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mint mark, WRPM-003, is cataloged by Wexler (doubleddie.com) as 1938-D 1¢ WRPM-003. The mint mark is D/D West. Stage A shows a strong secondary, a scratch south from the T of LIBERTY, a light scratch north from the top of the head between the letters of WE, a NW-SE scratch east of the eye, and a short scratch west of the earlobe. By Stage B only the earlobe scratch remains and the secondary is weak. Reverse Stage A: a long, light scratch from the C of CENT to the first E of E PLURIBUS UNUM and an NNW scratch from the M of AMERICA to the E of UNITED, both abraded away by Stage B.
