1904 (O) Morgan Dollar - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1904-O WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1904-O Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as an O/O Southwest. On the obverse, a light WSW/ENE crack crosses the front of the hair. From the bulge at the back of the cap a light crack runs WNW across the tops of the maple leaf and wheat stalk and then turns into the top of LIBERTY's I, and another light crack runs NW from the bulge. On the reverse, the mint mark leans to the left. From the right ribbon tail a crack runs west by north to the leaves on the left, with a chip in it above the mint mark's left side, and from the wreath's upper left another crack climbs north to the left wing. Near 11:00 three cracks meet: one passes the wing tip to the tops of ED in UNITED, one runs alongside the left side of STATES's first S to the wing, and the third runs along the tops of STATES OF, forking slightly at AT, and exits by the right wing tip at 1:00. A light crack touches the tops of AMERIC in AMERICA, and from the bottom of GOD a crack heads east, rises at WE, and crosses the top of TRU in TRUST. Polishing marks show on the lower eagle and the middle and upper ribbon and wreath, and the E of WE in IN GOD WE TRUST is filled. David Mulberry submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #1, and its VAM number is #10.
