1878-S VAM-9 Doubled LIBERTY Left, Broken B, Engraved Wing Feather Discovered by Bill Fivaz, July 1972. 9(revised) II 7 · B2l (Doubled LIBERTY Left, Broken B, Engraved Wing Feather) (184) Obverse II 7– LIBERTY slightly doubled to left and also right on IB-R-Y. Die flakes at top of E-P with B slightly doubled at top right inside of lower loop and bottom crossbar broken. Point on fourth right star broken. Reverse B2l– Feather engraved between eagle’s right wing and leg. R in Trust broken. Tiny die chip on second outer bottom feather of eagle’s right wing. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Obverse shared w/ 1878-S VAM-9, 1878-S VAM-53 & 1878-S VAM-79.
