Description

Designated as privately made, this 1900-O Morgan Dollar VAM-60 is a counterfeit produced from cast dies rather than genuine Mint equipment. The obverse displays a slanted date in normal lateral position with the 1 closest to the rim, accompanied by numerous raised die chips at the 190, first and fifth left stars, IB in PLURIBUS, and N in UNUM — characteristic of porous cast die surfaces. The reverse uses the same counterfeit cast die as the 1901-O VAM-58 counterfeit, linking both to a single illicit operation. The medium III O mintmark is centered and slightly high. Casting raised dots appear at N-D in UNITED, ST in STATES, M-R in AMERICA, the right star, LLA in DOLLAR, and O in ONE, with slightly rounded edges where design meets field. The C3 type reverse classification helps identify the source die lineage. The privately made designation is critical — this is not a Mint product but a documented counterfeit included in VAMWorld specifically so collectors and dealers can identify these deceptive pieces when encountered in the marketplace.
