Description

CCL(T1)-5c-2000-01 is a Type I counter clash on a 2000-P Jefferson nickel, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It comes from the same clash as ADC-5c-2000-03, but this coin shows counter clash marks that ADC-5c-2000-03 lacks, so MDC gives it its own listing. The plainest sign of the counter clash is part of Monticello's base, counter clashed just right of the O in MONTICELLO. Letters of UNITED, from a third event, show just above Jefferson's front hairline. Counter clash hair lines mix with the NTS of CENTS; the right side of Monticello (as viewed) shows behind Jefferson's head; the E of E PLURIBUS UNUM sits just left of his collar; and hair lines from the obverse cross the NTIC of MONTICELLO. MDC also pictures the "flames" over Monticello and the marks from Jefferson's forehead. The coin is courtesy of David Strzalkowski.
