2000 (P) Jefferson Nickel - Atypical Die Clash ADC-5C-2000-01

Description

ADC-5c-2000-01 is an atypical die clash on a 2000-P Jefferson nickel, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The dies clashed seven times, and this coin was struck soon afterward; no one had tried to abrade the dies, the usual step taken to reduce clash marks. On the obverse, one clash put the V of FIVE jutting from Jefferson's forehead opposite the final T of TRUST, and another put the last O of MONTICELLO jutting from the hairline opposite the R of LIBERTY. Many marks from Monticello cover the collar, the queue, and the cloth band and bow. On the reverse, seven separate marks come from Jefferson's collar and throat, and strong flame-like marks over the right side of Monticello come from the gap between his neck and queue near the band and bow. David Strzalkowski of Florida submitted the coin.
