2000 Atypical Die Clash ADC-5C-2000-02

Description
ADC-5c-2000-02 This 2000P Jefferson nickel more than likely has the strongest clashed dies that left both the obverse and reverse dies in tact. Virtually ever design element has been crossed transferred to the opposing die face. Only the obverse center has no traces of clash marks. Although the dies are aligned correctly for the strike. the clash has a 5° offset from the horizontal plane. It is not known which die has offset during the clash. We have David Dukette to thank for finding this gem and it is encapsulated by PCGS with a grade of AU-58. This is what makes searching pocket change fun. This particular clash was so strong that the peripheral lettering was clashed. In the top picture “IN GOD” is clearly see, while the words IWE TRUST are seen behind the E. PLURIBUS. The next picture shows the date and parts of the word LIBERTY on the right side of Monticello”. Also seen in this picture is the space between Jefferson’s neck and his queue, which appears as a long thin “smoke line rising from the left side roof of Monticello. In this picture, the last part of PLURIBUS can be seen below the bust of Jefferson and mingling with the words IN GOD. The last picture shows part of UNUM behind the designer’s initials.
