Description

CCL(TI)-1c-1989-01 Below is a 1989 Lincoln cent with a doubled die clash. The evidence is limited to one area that was not abraded by the Mint. In bays 3 & 4 arrows (1.) point to the first clash event and appear to be the back of Lincoln’s coat and neck; arrows (2.) show the second clash event; the teal arrow shows part of the design (column 4) being transferred back  to the reverse die from the first clash event on obverse die. The other photos below show die abrasion and hints of the clash that was polished away (these marks can also be used as die markers). This particular die was simultaneously identified by Jason Dick and Jeremy Gardner; coin courtesy Jeremy Gardner.
