1989 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Type I Counter Clash CCLTI-1C-1989-01

Description

CCL(TI)-1c-1989-01 is a Type I counter clash on a 1989 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes as a doubled die clash. The evidence is confined to one area the Mint did not abrade, bays 3 and 4. There, marks from the first clash look like the back of Lincoln's coat and neck, marks from the second clash sit beside them, and part of the design, column 4, returned to the reverse die from the marks the first clash had left on the obverse die. MDC also pictures die abrasion and faint traces of the polished-away clash, which can serve as die markers.
