Description

Light spread west on the D of GOD, the middle of the hair queue, and the hair curl above the ear characterizes this second cataloged VarietyVista doubled die obverse for the 2023 American Women Quarter — one of the newest design types in the U.S. quarter dollar series. The American Women Quarters program (2022-2025) honors trailblazing American women on unique reverse designs each year while maintaining the standard George Washington obverse where this doubling appears. Die stage codes are still being assigned, with UVC and DMR values listed as pending (UVC-????, DMR-00?), indicating this is a recently documented variety that has not yet accumulated sufficient specimens for complete die stage characterization. Three stages are provisionally identified: Stage A with obverse and reverse in Early Die State, Stage B in Mid-Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed).
