Description
Master die doubling on the 2022-P Dr. Sally Ride quarter affects virtually every coin struck, since the displacement occurred at the master die level rather than on individual working dies. Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2022-P 25¢ SR WMDR-001, doubling appears to the east of Ride's jacket collar above her left shoulder. Die markers: Obverse: None significant. Reverse: None significant. Cross-referenced as None known. Most, if not all, Ride quarters show this master die doubling. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in copper-nickel clad (5.67 g, 24.26 mm), the American Women Quarters program launched in 2022 with Phebe Hemphill's reverse depicting Ride beside a shuttle window overlooking Earth.
