Attributed by the Wexler Team, the 2023-D Eleanor Roosevelt Quarter WMDR-001 documents master die doubling on the reverse — an anomaly originating at the master die level rather than the working die stage, meaning the doubling was potentially propagated to every working die produced from the affected master hub. Most, if not all, 2023-D Eleanor Roosevelt Quarters are believed to show this master die doubling, making it one of the most widely distributed varieties in the American Women Quarters series. The distinction between master die and working die doubling is critical: master die varieties appear on the entire production run from all derived dies, while working die varieties are confined to a single die.
