2022 (P) Dr. Sally Ride Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2022-P SR WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2022-P Dr. Sally Ride quarter (American Women series), cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling lies above Ride's left shoulder, to the east of her jacket collar. The obverse is the master die doubled WMDO-001. Its markers are die chips at the back of the mouth, a gouge in front of the eye, a gouge under the first T in TRUST, a gouge well north of the G in GOD, and a small gouge right of the T in LIBERTY. The reverse is the master die doubled WMDR-001. It has a small gouge under the first U in PLURIBUS, toward its left side; a gouge touching the U in QUARTER on its inner right side; and a small gouge right of the R in AMERICA. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments note that it closely resembles WDDR-008 and suggest comparing the doubling and die markers of the two.
