2015 (D) Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter - D(BRP)-25DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2015D(BRP)-25DER-001T is a 2015 Denver quarter of the Blue Ridge Parkway design (BRP), coded with 25 for a quarter dollar and DER for TrailDies' reverse design extension class, then file 001 with the T that signals trails. The trails leave the fir branches that sit above the bridge and point at 100°, just south of due east, toward the right edge of the coin. TrailDies lists no die markers, so the die is known by those tree branches alone. Ken Potter found it, and the entry adds that these quarters were being handed out at the US Mint's area of an ANA show. The usual explanation is a rotary polishing tool working over the die face; a smaller camp blames movement between the die and the hub.
