Description
The 2015 (D) Blue Ridge Parkway National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the Denver Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 505.2 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 15 variants, accounting for 17% of the year's production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a curved mountain road entering a tunnel with flowering dogwood trees. The Blue Ridge Parkway stretches 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina, connecting Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains national parks. Homestead (NE), Kisatchie (LA), Blue Ridge Parkway (NC), Bombay Hook (DE), and Saratoga (NY) were featured. The program entered its middle years with steady collector participation.
