Bearing the WDDR-001 designation, the 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway quarter carries a Denver Mint doubled die variety on the America the Beautiful design celebrating North Carolina's scenic mountain highway. The Blue Ridge Parkway stretches 469 miles along the crest of the southern Appalachian Mountains, connecting Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. Die hubbing misalignment produced the visible doubling on reverse design elements that defines this variety, cataloged under Wexler designation 2015-D 25¢ NC WDDR-001.
