2013 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-009T Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 2013P-1DER-009T, the words PLURIBUS UNUM show trails at 010°, a touch east of north. The motto rides on the scroll across the shield, so the lines start in the middle of the reverse. TrailDies' code stands for 2013, Philadelphia, the one-cent piece (1), its design extension reverse class (DER), file 009 and trails (T). The middle-state coin described has a crack in the 0 of the date on the obverse and, on the reverse, a die chip at the shield's upper left above the PL of PLURIBUS. Vivien Bullard found it. Trails are mostly thought to result from polishing the die with a rotary tool, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
