2013 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-002T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on 2013P-1DER-002T come from the AES of STATES, the F of OF, the first A of AMERICA and the top of the shield, all offset at 330°, north-northwest. TrailDies' number is built from the date and mint (2013P), cent (1), the DER tag for a reverse design extension, file 002 and the trail suffix T. At the middle die state, a small die dot sits above the U of TRUST on the obverse, and a crack is starting along the shield's upper left on the reverse. Joe Koelling found the die. Rotary polishing of the working die is the usual explanation for trails; some numismatists propose die-to-hub movement instead.

• Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen above the U in TRUST.
• Reverse is MDS – a die crack is forming along the upper left edge of the shield.
