Description
On 2013P-1DEO-008T, trails leave the digits of the date and, more faintly, Lincoln's beard, offset at 120°, east-southeast, toward the lower right. Decoding the number: 2013 Philadelphia, a one-cent coin, obverse design extension in TrailDies' language (DEO), file 008, trails (T). TrailDies notes no markers on either side of the middle-die-state coin it describes, so the faint lines at the beard are a useful second check after the date. Joe Koelling found the die. Where trails come from is usually answered with die polishing by a rotary tool; a minority answer is that the die moved on the hub.
Die Markers
- Obverse is MDS – none noted.
