2013 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-007T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2013P-1DEO-007T shows trails from the tops of LIBERTY's letters, pointing to 330°, north-northwest, up toward the rim. TrailDies' numbering puts the date and mint first (2013P), then the cent's 1, DEO for the obverse design extension, file 007 and the T of a trail die. The middle-die-state coin it describes has a die chip in Lincoln's forehead and a crack at the shield's top left on the reverse. 2013P-1DEO-003T runs the same way, so the forehead chip and the absence of trails on TRUST help tell the two apart. Joe Koelling found it. A rotary buff used to polish the die is the cause most often given, though some prefer to explain trails by die movement against the hub.

• Reverse is MDS – a die crack is sen in the upper left edge of the shield.
