Description
TrailDies' 2013 Philadelphia obverse page shows this die under the heading 2012P-1DEO-004T, a misprint; it sits between 2013 files 003 and 005 and pairs with 2013P-1DER-001T, so its number is 2013P-1DEO-004T. That is 2013, P mint, one cent, design extension obverse, file 004, trails. LIBERTY carries lines running both ways, at 170° (down, slightly right) and at 350° (up, slightly left). The coin TrailDies shows is early in the die's life (stage A); the obverse has no markers, while on the reverse a short crack climbs from AMERICA's C and a faint one follows the shield's top left. The finder was Joe Koelling. Polishing of the die face with a rotary tool is the accepted source of trails, although a few writers point to the die moving against the hub.

- Stage “A“, obverse is EDS – none noted
- Reverse is EDS – a small die crack is seen from the top of the C in AMERICA. A light die crack is seen along the top, left edge of the shield.
